You may be a qualified teacher, or someone with vast subject knowledge looking to step into teaching, or looking for a role behind the scenes that’s critical to supporting student outcomes. Maybe you could be that warm friendly face that welcomes students in one of our front of house roles, or the helpful catering assistant that keeps students fuelled and lunch times running smoothly. We’ve summarised some of our job types below;
Our curriculum spans over 40 different subjects, from entry level qualifications to degrees, including technical and vocational qualifications, apprenticeships, A Levels, T Levels, HNCs and Degrees. With that comes the opportunity to teach across a variety of subjects and levels, often creating opportunities for those who have never taught before as well as experienced Lecturers. Teaching in FE is unique, if you've got industry experience and a passion for sharing your skills and knowledge, you could be closer to becoming a teacher than you think!
Our flexible curriculum means we've created opportunities for a number of Lecturers to join us from industry, without giving up the day job! If you're interested in getting into teaching, whether that be as a full time career, or stepping in to the teaching world alongside your current career, please don't hesitate to get in touch to discuss your options further recruitment@furness.ac.uk
Our support staff work in varying roles across the college, whether that be front of house positions such as Reception and Student Services, or our vast student facing roles within our Inclusion team. Learning Support Assistants and Specialist Mentors provide 1:1 support to our students in the learning environment, or that extra pastoral support and the coaching our students receive from our Personal Progress Coaches. Other career options across our service teams include both administration and specialist roles within services such as Exams, Finance, Human Resources and IT, or if you’re looking for a hands on physical role, the Facilities teams may be of interest to you.
Our Apprenticeships and Marketing Teams offer a range of roles for those keen to work with employers and future students. Our Apprenticeships and Marketing Teams actively support employers in the Furness area to grow and develop their workforce while our Marketing & School Engagement Teams focus on our future student population. Most of the roles within these teams involve getting out and about in the local area, working directly with employers and schools to ensure our offer meets current and future needs.
The College also aims to recruit its own apprentices. These positions are a great opportunity for those looking to gain experience in a post-16 education environment and work as a member of support staff, or work towards a management role. Our apprenticeship programme has been very successful and a number of our apprentices have gone on to secure permanent roles across the College in a wide range of functions.
